Matt Wright migrates from Kongsberg training to CMYUK Academy role

Matt Wright becomes academy trainer at CMYUK
New position in response to an upsurge in demand for automated workflows for leaner workforces reshaped by COVID

Matt Wright has stepped across from his role as a Kongsberg, Canon, and Mimaki trainer at CMYUK to join its Academy team.  While he will continue his training activities, a growing proportion of Matt’s time will be concentrated on demonstrating ENFOCUS and Fiery automation software to help customers achieve greater efficiency and resilience within their production workflows. This move is a direct response to the growth in demand for automation software that began to build momentum during the pandemic.

“We are seeing new and existing customers showing greater awareness and interest in workflow-efficient strategies. COVID has been a big driver for this as it spotlighted how reliance on manual physical processes alone could make the difference between a business that survived and one that went under. The activities of the CMYUK Academy closely reflect the commercial needs of the marketplace. Matt will be perfect in this new role, helping customers to learn and utilise automation software as an integral profit-booster within their everyday working practices,” says Amira Bouchiba, CMYUK Academy Manager.

Matt joined CMYUK in August 2020 as an Installation and Service Engineer and has most recently been largely responsible for installing Kongsberg digital cutting tables and training customers in their usage and maintenance.

“Matt is a natural with customers and is very gifted when it comes to understanding technical processes. He has already introduced Kongsberg customers to automated routines as he is very aligned to creating workflows that save time, money, and remove human error,” says Amira.

He will be located full time at CMYUK’s training and demonstration facility in Shrewsbury, where he will carry out equipment and automation software demonstrations.  The hybrid nature of his role will see him reporting to Neil Roberts, CMYUK’s Demonstration & Showroom Manager and Amira.

“We’re very proud of matt’s achievements so far and this new role reflects his hard work and enthusiasm. In the last two years he has been a real asset to the CMYUK team and is a natural when it comes to communicating technical processes to customers,” says Neil.

Taking automation to wide-format print companies

The need for automation is starting to gain traction within the wide format digital print community. Historically, automation has been the domain of the bigger print companies – particularly Litho – that could make the heavy investment required. The popular perception of the wide-format digital print community is that it is complex, expensive, and only applicable to small format output.

EFI Fiery JobFlow

Fiery JobFlow automates job preparation steps in prepress workflows to produce ready-to-print files. This entry-level easy-to-use print workflow automation software increases productivity and reduces costs.

Enfocus Switch

Enfocus has long been regarded as the leader in PDF quality control, advanced PDF editing and workflow automation for the digital graphic arts. Enfocus Switch can be tailored specifically for the needs of digital wide format print production.

The adapted Switch solution is a workflow automation platform that connects MIS, proofing, web-to-print, PDF pre-flighting, customer approval, and production preparation processes. It enables printers to create a fully automated process for their print applications and devices saving time and money. It is the only platform that automates your processes regardless of print application or devices.

Says Amira, “There is a large need in our industry to automate basic production tenets such as pre-flighting, so many businesses aren’t doing this because they don’t understand it. EFI JobFlow and Enfocus Switch really dispel the myths around united connectivity. They follow a rules-based model of automation, you decide on your own criteria that activates several actions as soon as a job file is opened. Customers can customise workflows and connect with existing ones if needs be. This type of automation really provides significant value-added gains for both wide format print businesses and their customers.”
