CMYUK chalks-up another glowing review for the PVC banner replacement range

LEISTER Technologies has joined global plastic welding titans Miler Weldmaster and FIAB in endorsing Kavalan PVC-free banner material.

The Swiss-owned technology group which has been manufacturing equipment for the welding of thermoplastic polymers in construction, commercial and industrial environments for the last 70 years, has long been looking for a viable alternative to PVC, and believes that Kavalan is the solution.

“Until now no other PVC material could tick all the boxes as Kavalan has for us.   Other materials that we have tested previously have no tensile strength or didn’t perform well when trying to weld them together,” said Urs Schmid, Technical Sales Engineer at LEISTER.

Urs carried out tests on Kavalan Sunlight Weldable Frontlit banner using LEISTER’s  SEAMTEK 980 and SEAMTEK W980 welding equipment. He was pleasantly surprised by the results – impressed by Kavalan’s weldability plus the look and feel of it, which closely resembles traditional PVC.

“One of the great things about Kavalan is that it can be welded with both hot air and low voltage technology,”  said Urs.

The Kavalan PVC-free banner range, is designed for waste-to-energy end-of-life disposal processes, and can be incinerated safely without any harmful effects to health or the environment.

“It’s what brands want, it’s what everyone wants,” said Urs. “No one wants to put PVC material into landfill.  We live in Switzerland in such beautiful nature. Let us take responsibility to preserve it for the next generation.”
