Berger Textiles more popular than ever, reflecting the growth of digital textile printing in the UK
Specialist wide format print technology provider CMYUK today announced sales of Berger Textiles for digital textile printing are at their highest ever. The trend is set to continue according to the company, reflecting the exponential growth of digital textile printing in the UK.
CMYUK started researching and developing the market for digital textile printing in the UK when the company first identified it as a growth market for the wide format industry four years ago. And the appointment of CMYUK as exclusive distributor of Berger Textiles at a time when many textile consumables suppliers were ignoring the UK market, is now paying dividends according to consumables manager, Michael Crook.
“Because of the flexibility and advances in technology, we knew that textiles would be a growth area for our customers in the sign and display market, so we invested the time and effort in understanding digital textile printing from the very beginning. As a result, we are now in a great position to help customers choose the right fabric media for their printer technology – whether it’s UV or dye-sub,” says Michael.
Early on, CMYUK launched its Fabric Specifier application on its website, which allows customers to identify the right textiles for their printers in four easy steps, by choosing from drop down menus. Users can select a media either by printer model or ink type and then select application and finally environment (e.g. fire rated, outdoor, indoor etc.).
“We chose an online specifier because it allowed us to showcase the full range of textiles and capabilities of the fabrics, once we had conducted our own thorough testing,” Michael continued.
“One fabric may have several usages, but these applications may not be very obvious to the user, so it was important to us to test each one and work out market usages for the different medias. In essence, we did the market research on the fabrics so that our print customers would be able to inspire their customers and creative agencies to produce bespoke items, displays and much more using digitally printed textiles.”
There is a wealth of applications on the CMYUK Fabric Specifier with a huge range of potential products listed including beanbags, hammocks, tents, curtains, pillows, display frames, lightboxes, contract furnishings and more.
